Week 29 Update

From babycenter.com
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

I had a doctor appointment today, it went very well. Heartbeat was about 140 and the doctor says my belly size and weight gain are very good right now. My next appointment is in mid September, then I start going every two weeks. We also get to tour the hospital birthing centerin late September and I'm looking forward to that.

Not much happened this week. Baby is still kicking away (except when someone wants to feel, then he/she is very shy and still). I did get to hang out with my best friends last night as they started to plan my first baby shower! I am very much so looking forward to that.

Today Alex and I are going to make a baby registry. (this time it's for real!) We are going to register at Babies R Us and Target. I have my registry list all ready to go, all we have to do is get the gun and go shopping. I'm super excited to look at all the cool baby gadgets and stuff that I don't really need but I'll put on there anyway :P

I think that's all for today, thanks for reading and God Bless!

Beginning the 3rd Trimester!!

I'm in the home stretch now! As always, we begin with babycenter.com
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. You're in the home stretch! The third and final trimester starts this week. If you're like most women, you'll gain about 11 pounds this trimester.

I can't believe I'm still gonna get bigger! I already feel very clumsy and awkward and now it's gonna get worse! Oh well, I'm sure I will get  used to it as the weeks progress.

I still find it humorous that some of my friends think that we are crazy for not finding out the gender of our baby before hand. They seem to think that it's impossible to wait to open a gift until the big day! I just have this wonderful vision in my head of us in the delivery room, baby is born, and through all the pain and crazyness, when the doctor says "it's a _____! " I'm just going to be the happiest person alive! Some also ask me if I have an idea of what the baby will be. I can say with all honestly say I don't know. I haven't had any sort of "feeling" like some expecting moms have. And I honestly could care less what he/she turns out to be. As long as he/she is healthy, I will be happy! So you all can keep guessing what he/she will turn out to be, just don't buy and color specific items just yet! :P

I don't remember if I posted this yet, but I don't mind saying it twice. God has shown his faithfulness to us this past week. We were wondering if we could afford to buy paint for the baby room, but just couldn't find it in the budget. One of my wonderful friends from church let me know that her husband has lots of extra paint from his job and would be willing to give us some. So we came home with 2 almost full gallons of paint last week! On top of that, I had another wonderful church friend offer to buy our paint for us!! I cannot believe that I ever doubted my Lord. Always when I'm at my point where I can't figure out what to do, He shows us that He will provide. Thank you to my two friends (you know who you are) and thank you again Lord for providing for us.

Thanks for reading and God Bless!

Week 27 Update

From babycenter.com
This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Wow. Only one week left of the second trimester. Yesterday (8/12/12) I realized that we were 3 months away from my due date! AHH! I'm so excited to be able to hold my little baby soon, but I'm nervous about almost everything else! Will finances even out? Will the baby room be ready? Will we be ready to be parents? In my head, I know faith in God will get us through this, but it doesn't stop me from being nervous all the same.

I still have to get prep work done, and that means getting off my butt and doing it. I do have goals this week to get the baby room cleaned out and the dresser and closet organized. I also need to take measurements for painting. But I will stop there for this week, I don't want to plan to do too much and then be sad when it doesn't get done.

Well I think that is it for today. Hopefully I'll get some pictures up of our progress on the baby room as we get stuff done. Thanks for reading and God Bless!

Week 26 Update!

From babycenter.com
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

Oh my, only 2 weeks until I'm in the third trimester! I was perfectly happy when we first got pregnant, but now I'm so anxious! Some days it feels like I have so much to do, and not enough time to do it! (oh wait, that's every day :P ) But in reference to baby, I really want to get the baby registry done, and get the room  painted and get curtains hung in there too. But it seems like so many other things take priority when I want to do stuff.

I have gotten a few things done though, I found (with the help of my BFF) a stroller for only $15 at a garage sale the other day! So yay for a good find! My parents also gave us their gift to us and got us a infant car-seat! Thank you Mom and Dad!

I just finished reading my devotional for this week, it talked about relying on God through all the labor pains and that He will get me through this even when  it seems impossible. Even though I still have 3 months to go, it's nice to think about Him being there with me and helping through the pain. I still want to try and do a natural birth, but I also know that if the pain is to much, God has put wonderful doctors within my grasp that can ease my pain with some medication. I'm also super grateful that God has given me a wonderful husband who I know will do everything to make me comfortable and happy.

Thank you for  your continued prayers and reading of my blog. It makes me very happy to see the numbers on the 'views' of the blog keep going up! Thanks for reading and God Bless!
