This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
Not much baby related happened this week. His/her movements are still pretty consistent, and my heartburn and stuff is still about the same. The baby shower is coming up in about 2 weeks so I'm very excited for that! Alex and I are still working on getting the budget worked out for after baby comes, but he now has a new job and we have a hopeful future ahead with that. It's closer to home and he can get extra cash by doing some special projects that I don't quite understand. But it makes me excited to know that extra money may be coming in to help with the new baby expenses.
I've also started looking at crock-pot freezer meals for when baby comes. I know that some nights I won't want to cook anything so I plan to get at least a couple weeks worth of meals in the freezer before hand. Pinterest has been my friend for this part of planning. :)
Tonight Alex and I start the childbirth classes together. Like I said before, I've watched them already, but this time we are doing them together so we can discuss the sessions as a couple and figure out exactly what we want during labor and delivery. I have no delusions that I may be incoherent during labor, so I want Alex to know exactly what I want so he can tell the doctors if need be.
Well I think that's it for now. Thanks for reading and God Bless!!
